Jeremy Gunn is a retired English association football midfielder who is the head men's soccer coach at Stanford University. He played professionally in the USISL.
Gunn played in both the Grimsby Town F.C. and Scunthorpe United F.C. youth systems in his native England before coming to the United States. He attended Cal State Bakersfield where he was a 1992 First Team NCAA Division II All American soccer player. In 1993, he joined the Chico Rooks of the USISL. In 1998, he moved to the Nashville Metros. On May 29, 1998, the Metros traded Gunn to the Charleston Battery for John Jones and a 1999 draft pick.
Even while playing professionally, Gunn was also coaching. In 1993, he became an assistant at Cal-State Bakersfield. In 1999, he became the head coach of the Fort Lewis College soccer team. Over eight seasons, he compiled a 123–35–17 record and won six Rocky Mountain Conference championships. He took the Skyhawks to the 1999, 2005 and 2006 NCAA Men's Division II Soccer Championship. The team won in 2005 and finished runner-up in 1999 and 2006. He was the 2005 NCAA Division II Coach of the Year. On December 26, 2006, the Charlotte 49ers hired Gunn to coach the school's men's soccer team. In 2007, he took his team to their first ever Atlantic 10 Tournament championship game. In 2011, Gunn led the 49ers to the finals of the College Cup, where they lost 1–0 to North Carolina. In December 2011, Gunn was hired as the head men's soccer coach at Stanford.
Hyder is a census-designated place (CDP) in Prince of Wales-Hyder Census Area, Alaska, United States. The population was 87 at the 2010 census. Hyder has achieved fame as a point in Alaska accessible to automobile and motorbike travelers in Canada and the USA who want to say that they have been to Alaska. Hyder is also the easternmost town in Alaska.
Hyder is located at 55°56′29″N 130°3′16″W / 55.94139°N 130.05444°W / 55.94139; -130.05444 (55.941442, -130.054504), at the head of the Portland Canal, a 130-mile (210 km) long fjord which forms a portion of the border between the U.S. and Canada at the southeastern edge of the Alaska Panhandle. It sits about 2 miles (3.2 km) from Stewart, British Columbia by road, and 75 miles (121 km) from Ketchikan by air.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 14.8 square miles (38 km2), all land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 97 people, 47 households, and 25 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 6.5 people per square mile (2.5/km²). There were 72 housing units at an average density of 4.9 per square mile (1.9/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 93 White, and 4 from two or more races. There was 1 Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Legacy Emanuel Medical Center is a medical facility located in Portland, Oregon, United States. Founded in 1912, it is a part of Legacy Health. The facility is home to the Legacy Oregon Burn Center, Randall Children's Hospital, the Life Flight Network (MEDEVAC) and is a Level I trauma center. The 554-bed facility provides a full range of services including conventional surgery, radiation treatment, high risk patient care and others.
Established as Emanuel Hospital in 1912 by the Lutheran Church, it was named for Saint Emmanuel. The Rev. Carl Renhard started the hospital, with the first location at a three-story Victorian home on southwest Taylor Street. In December 1915, the hospital moved to a new building it constructed for $20,000 at Stanton and Commercial Streets in Albina, its current location. At that time it had 135 beds. Emanuel added a new, four-story nursing school residence in 1921 at a cost of $60,000. A $280,000 expansion to the hospital opened in February 1926, with the old building then being converted to a maternity ward.
Portland State University (PSU) is a public, nonprofit, coeducational research university located in the southwest University District of downtown Portland, Oregon, United States. Originally founded in 1946 as post-secondary educational institution for World War II veterans, it evolved into a four-year college over the following two decades, and was granted university status in 1969. It is the only public urban university in the state of Oregon that is located in a major metropolitan city, and is governed by a board of trustees.
Portland State is composed of seven constituent colleges, offering undergraduate degrees in one-hundred and twenty-three fields, and postgraduate degrees in one-hundred and seventeen fields. Schools at Portland State include the School of Business Administration, Graduate School of Education, School of Social Work, College of Urban and Public Affairs, Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science, and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
